My Story! An LGBTQ+ Writing Competition

LGBTQ+ Rainbow Flag on Apple iOS 12.2 A Movellas Competition

Write your own LGBTQ+ inspired story!

We are in a new age. An age of freedom, expression, and love. No longer do we have to cower in the closet or repress our hearts' true desires. Today we can be and love whoever we want to <3 For queer people, books are the place we turn to for validation, understanding, and connection. They can be a means for sharing our own stories, deconstructing or constructing our own identities, and learning about ourselves and our hopes for the future.

For friends and family, they're a tool for supporting and understanding our lived experiences and histories. We want to write these stories, and we all want to read them - the key is to create a community that supports it :) Which brings us to our second favoritest subject, fanfiction. Fanfiction has - and for some time now - been a popular platform for taking stories in alternative directions and exploring gay or lesbian relationships.

The awesome bulk of LGBTQ+ fanfiction aside, we can see that for a long time there has been an interest in both writing these kind of stories and reading them. It's fun and enthralling for readers when the writers are allowed to experiment with the sexual identity of their characters. There are places in the world today where it is forbidden to publish and even read LGBTQ+ material. Movellas is no such place. In this reading & writing community, we want to celebrate that words are free and that you are free to write and publish whatever you want to.

The time has come to pen a story worthy of this age, a story about love, relationships, and a world where all of us are free to express what comes naturally.  Everyone is welcome to participate in the competition, just write something that reflects the theme of this competition: LGBTQ+ Keep in mind that to participate, your story should revolve around or deal with gay, lesbian, transgender, asexual, aromantic, demi, non-binary, or any other sexual preferences that can be found on the spectrum - you are free to delve into it.

Winning entries will be shared on Movellas' social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.) And all the prizes are from our awesome LGBTQ+ international reading list; read all about it on our blog.
